About

I had an amazing experience to redesign the website for The Children’s Haven, a non-profit in Canton, U.S.A in #48in48 hours event.

The program was sponsored by IBM and other partners.

The Problems

The current website needed treatments in terms of layout, overall visual design consistency. The non profit also wanted a new navigation system.

While auditing the website, we noted the accessibility issues with images laid over text and too low color contrast between the text and the background.

PRODUCT REVIEW

Review of the current design

I worked on various resources and data provided by the non profits, including style guide, their competitors, their images and requirements.

I also discussed about the new navigation and layout for the landing page.

BUILD THE WEBSITE IN WORDPRESS

Throughout the process, I helped to advise the navigation to other pages, and finally audited the overall visual design of the website.

I also helped to adjust typography and color from the backend of the website.

QA Review and Approval

The final website successfully went live after Quality Assurance Team’s approval. The navigation was revised according to the Non profit’s request. The Non profit is happy with our final work.

REFLECTION

Due to short time of 48 hours, we could not do User Research and Usability test. We could just built the page as the non profit’s request and apply interaction design’s principles in our process.

We would have applied User Research and Usability test to ensure the user experience of the product.

Also, Beaver Builder’s functions are limited, not flexible as Elementor so our team had difficulties to follow my final UI design.
